It may not be obvious from the stuff I draw, but what I'm really into are playfighting fantasies. I'm not stupid you know, real combat isn't sexy, and tends to hurt. I also don't like gore, or any kind of dismemberment, spurting blood is fine, just so long as there isn't too much of it (like 'Carrie'
Things I remember that had an impact on me included a history program for kids (when I was a kid myself) where they re-enacted a battle, splitting a schoolclass into girls and boys, with the girls slaughtering the boys wholesale in the subsequent battle. I found the overacting particularly thrilling, the boys were having so much fun going "Orrrgghh!" and pulling faces. I did want to see some similar performances from the girls, but I guess that wouldn't have been acceptable, and it would have taken the shine off the totalness of their victory, which was part of the fun too.
Another time it was a tv program where a guy who is in love with a girl dreams of her, and this leads into a dance-sequence in which they are boxing, and she knocks him out not once, but 99 times! She boxes 99 copies of him, knocking them out one after the other, and they land atop each other building it a huge pile of beaten manhood.
Another fave was a dance sequence where one girl boxed the rest of the dance troupe, knocking all the other girls out even though she was hugely outnumbered. This was probably the inspiration for my 'multiple opponents' drawing. I particularly like dance sequences because they're sexy, elegant and playful, and can involve the most wildly improbable techniques, and of course no-one is really getting hurt.
If anyone knows where I can find some combat-themed dance from tv shows, I'd like to know!
